A little over a week ago Em, Kirsten's mare, welco A little over a week ago Em, Kirsten's mare, welcomed a sweet filly into the world during the middle of the night. Not only does Em love her new baby, but Kirsten is pretty smitten over the newest addition to her herd. She is very excited for this little one's future, but in the meantime, she is happy to watch her grow and give her some scratches when she allows the attention!

The snow wasn't much, but it did give us just enough to settle the dust. Hopefully we'll see more moisture over the next few months to help the pasture grass grow and give our cows something to eat over the summer!

Not all of them are friendly, but every once in a while we get one that is brave enough to let us reach out and pet them, or in this case, take some scratches! We like to say the fat cattle can be a little funny sometimes! 🤣

It was a beautiful March morning to move cows clos It was a beautiful March morning to move cows closer to home for the calving season. It went fairly smooth, thanks to the feed truck leading the pack. Donkey was extremely concerned she was being left behind as she struggled to keep up with the herd. Allie made sure she made it safely to her destination.

Not sure if her struggle was due to “wintering well,” or her simple personality distractions… Blue flower 🪻, red thorn 🥀. Blue flower 🪻, red thorn 🥀. 🤣

With every delivery of mineral or DDG, we weigh th With every delivery of mineral or DDG, we weigh the truck in and weigh it out once we've unloaded it ⚖. This helps us make sure we get the full amount of feed that was loaded on the truck, and that our scale ticket matches or is close to the one we get from the truck driver. This might just be the easiest part of getting feed in!

Spring in Colorado is not for the faint of heart, Spring in Colorado is not for the faint of heart, and this year is no exception. We have had a horrible year as far as wind goes, and it doesn't appear like were getting much of a break. The worst part of the wind is waking up to find what damage it did and see what we get to fix or put back together around the ranch. As you can see the wind is not gentle on our feed piles, as the wind turns the tarp into a sail. This is one of those projects that has to wait until the wind dies down unless someone is willing to turn into a human kite! 🪂

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, a Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and Gerald is one you won't see skipping out on a chance to follow the feed truck around. Gerald spends most of his days enjoying more than his fair share of meals, and basking in the sunshine ☀. As Kirsten stopped the feed truck to look around at the cows and calves to make sure everything looked healthy, she had to capture a quick picture of her favorite guy hanging out in the field. We hope he brightens your day as much as he brightens ours!

The skid steer may be made for one, but if Kirsten The skid steer may be made for one, but if Kirsten sits just right it is big enough for her and Mesa. While Kirsten might not need any extra help getting mineral pallets moved around, Mesa tags along just to make sure she is doing it right.

Kirsten was a bit reluctant when it came to getting the skid steer as it meant having to learn to drive a new piece of equipment, but even she can agree it has come in pretty handy and that she can accomplish a lot by herself with this little machine!

The guys have been hard at work starting to tear d The guys have been hard at work starting to tear down the tree line that runs behind the feedlot 🌳. While the tree line is our main wind block, most of these trees have died over the years, leaving us to not only pick up a lot of branches, but the occasional tree after heavy winds. Rather than wait for the entire tree line to come crashing down, we decided it was time to take the trees out and plant juniper trees in their place. After getting it all cleaned up, we will replace the old wood fence that is falling apart with tin as a small wind break.

The guys have a lot of work ahead of them, and with all the other projects we have going on around the ranch, it may not get done in a timely manner, but never the less we are excited to see the finished product!

Some of our crew enjoyed attending the 27th Annual Some of our crew enjoyed attending the 27th Annual MCC Foundation Gala! It was a great evening filled with energy, laughter, and a room full of people who care deeply about the future of our community. Events like this are a wonderful reminder of how strong and supportive our community truly is.

At Christensen Ranch, we believe in supporting the communities that support agriculture and education. We were proud to contribute to the auction by donating a 20-pound box of Christensen Ranch beef, delivered four times a year, giving the winning bidder the option to enjoy it themselves or gift it throughout the year.

It’s always inspiring to see so many people come together to support students and opportunities right here at home.

Wishing all of our friends, family & customers a H Wishing all of our friends, family & customers a Happy Easter! 🐣🐰

Gerald and Chip got a little surprise from the Easter bunny last night and both of them were not disappointed with their easter baskets. Gerald was happy to get a little corn silage in his, and Chip... well he just liked playing with his basket.

Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are beyond thankful for the sacrifices he made so that we could enjoy this life every day. We hope everyone has an amazing Easter surrounded by loved ones!

Calving is one of our favorite times of year and w Calving is one of our favorite times of year and we are always thankful for the cute bundles of joy we get to see from year to year. We are about two thirds of the way done, and calving has finally started to slow down. The first month was a whirlwind of calves hitting ground, which is fun, but can make it difficult to match up pairs throughout the day! Now we just need the cows to finish up in a little over a month so we have plenty of calves to keep us busy at branding.
