What a week spent in Amarillo for the Christensen What a week spent in Amarillo for the Christensen Ranch crew last week! 🥇

Kathy, Jeff, Kirsten and Helen all headed south for the AQHA VRH World Championships and came home with some amazing accomplishments and gratitude for getting to swing a leg over some good horses.

Helen secured a Top 15 finish in the Limited Amateur division in a TOUGH group of horses, as well as a Top 10 placing in the Limited Amateur Ranch Confirmation. She was also the 2026 Bronze Champion in the L1 Amateur Boxing! What an accomplishment for a home raised and trained mare. Helen and Willow make quite the team!

Kathy had a successful week of her own, having only had her mare Jess for a little over a year and for the first time she has shown at the National level in the Rookie Amateur division! Not only did she place in the top half of her class in a couple of her classes, but there was a lot of progress made at this show that will continue to help them grow!

Kirsten and Pebbles had a strong debut at the National level for their first trip out of Colorado! Despite Pebbles being on the younger side, Kirsten placed in the Top 10 in both her Limited Amateur Ranch Riding and Limited Amateur Ranch Cow Work and was in the Top 20 in two of her other classes!

The most exciting news yet is one we can't quite claim as our own, but one we have to brag on! Ty Sneddon, one of our Morgan County Ranch Horse members and good family friends, KILLED it last week in Amarillo, bringing home the Limited Youth World Champion title on his gelding Spook! What a well deserved win for this hard working young man! 🏆

Jeff was a great help to everyone showing, not only helping keep us all in line, but for giving us advice and some much needed pep talks before walking in the pen! He took a horse down to help each of us turn back in our cutting classes and it was much appreciated! Huge thanks to Eric, Berrie and Connor for holding the fort down while we were all gone and keeping things running smoothly!

Eric has a tradition of buying Jodi cows for Valen Eric has a tradition of buying Jodi cows for Valentine's Day. Thankfully, she's perfectly happy with that gift-but she does have one request: they must have names and special ear tags with those names. After all, they're not just numbers!
Gurty was one of those special Valentine's heifers, alongside Rosie and Freckles. Around here, diamonds are NOT a girl's best friend! 💎🌹

Boov is part of Tyler and Allie's herd and holds a special place in their hearts. She was one of three heifers born from one of their very first cows, Clover. Clover herself, was one of the orphan calves they bottle-fed and later purchased from the ranch. It's pretty neat to see the next generation carrying on the story.

Boov was especially interested in photo day and seemed determined to make sure her picture was taken. She kept finding her way to the camera, striking a pose like she knew she was part of something special! 📷

Sometimes the best gifts aren't found in a store-they're out in the pasture.

Around here, when we get several days of heavy rai Around here, when we get several days of heavy rain, Wildcat Creek has a habit of reminding us who's really in charge. The rushing water often washes out sections of fence, leaving plenty of repairs once the weather clears.

Eric spent the better part of the morning last week repairing the damage. This isn't a place you can simply drive a pickup to-it's rough, steep country that's only accessible by horseback or four-wheeler. Since he needed to haul fencing supplies, the ATV was the obvious choice.

After a long morning of rebuilding fence, the adventure wasn't quite over. On his ride back home, Eric found himself chasing a badger down the trail-yes, on the four-wheeler! Just another day on the ranch, where you never know what the next turn is going to bring.

Ranch life definitely keeps us on our toes, and after a week of rain, there's always a story waiting to be told.

We are thankful for everything she does for us and for always being up for whatever adventure Eric drags her on around the ranch. She might not have signed up for all the wild adventures that ranch life has to offer, but she sure does a good job of rolling with the punches. Wishing her a day filled with love, laughter, and all her favorite things!

We had an overnight shower last week before our st We had an overnight shower last week before our stretch of severe weather. It must have rained hard for a short amount of time because it left this funky texture across the yard. Everywhere you walked or drove had a satisfying crunch underfoot, almost resembling those notorious popcorn ceilings from years gone by!

Nature always has a way of keeping things interesting. We're thankful for every bit of moisture we receive-even if all it does is settle the dust for a few hours. Every drop counts out here on the ranch. 🌧️🌾

This past week's wild weather has hit so many in M This past week's wild weather has hit so many in Morgan County hard. While we experienced hail on a couple of different nights, none of it was larger than quarter-sized, and thankfully the damage here was limited.

We know many of our neighbors in Wiggins and Fort Morgan weren't as fortunate and have experienced devastating damage. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.

It was a very scary week, holding our breath each afternoon as the skies darkened and we watched the storms roll in. We feel incredibly grateful and blessed.

Kelsey captured some amazing photos of a supercell on one of those anxious afternoons-a reminder of the power and unpredictability of Mother Nature.

💙 We continue to pray for safety, healing, and strength for everyone as they recover.

The cows are looking great, but the pasture could The cows are looking great, but the pasture could use a little more TLC from Mother Nature. We are certainly appreciative of the moisture we've received thus far, and it has helped keep things growing.

While there's plenty of grass out there for this smaller herd, a good soaking rain and those lush green pastures are what make us all smile. For now, the cattle are happy, healthy, and making the most of what summer has to offer. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a few timely showers to keep everything growing strong throughout the season. 🌧️

We have a very special birthday to celebrate today We have a very special birthday to celebrate today-Larry is 86 years young!
If you happen to visit with Larry and ask how he's doing, chances are you'll hear his classic response: "I'm still kicking, just not very high!"

Today, the kids are gathering for a BBQ with all the fixings to celebrate Larry and another year of stories, laughter, and memories. We hope you have a wonderful day surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of good food. 🍔🎉

Happy 86th Birthday, Larry! Wishing you a fantastic day and many more years of "still kicking!"

Even though we've gotten a few small showers at th Even though we've gotten a few small showers at the feedlot throughout the month, the pastures aren't quite getting enough rain to keep the grass growing for the cows to eat. That being said, the cows are on the move quite a bit this summer, hitting different sections of pasture to not only make sure they are getting enough nutrients, but that we don't overgraze any of the pastures and kill what vegetation is growing. The Fall herd took a trip down the county road heading to greener grass! With all we have going on and being as busy as we are, we recruited Tobyn to help move cows for the day and we think it's safe to say he might just enjoy farm life a little more than school!

He topped it with a 5' x 8' American flag, and the finished project turned out beautifully. The flag now proudly waves over the branding grounds, adding a special touch to a place where friends, family, and neighbors gather to work together each spring and fall. 🇺🇸

Some days don't go quite as planned... especially Some days don't go quite as planned... especially those where you feel like everything needs to get done just a little quicker. Kirsten was merging rye to help the chopper get through the field a little quicker, but a piece of debris left in the field from one of our implements made for a temporary interruption. Thankfully the whole crew worked quickly and got the tire off and replaced so that she could get back in the field and keep the trucks running!
