We recently shared some pictures of Jeff putting his welding skills to work while building our new alley pen and sick pen.

But what you didn’t see was Kirsten right there rocking her welding skills, too! 💪🏼
So, of course, we had to share these pictures and give her a little recognition. Around here, the girls aren’t afraid to jump in, get their hands dirty, and get the job done.

Who says welding is just for the guys? Girls can do it too-and Kirsten has the sparks flying to prove it! 🔥👏🏼

Jeff's pickup may be his least favorite piece of equipment that he runs on the farm, but that just might be the amount of time he spends with it in the shop. 😂 His pickup is truly one of a kind, and has left him stranded out in the pasture on more than one occasion. After getting tired of making a few phone calls for a rescue, it was time to replace his fuel pump and hopefully get his pickup running in a little better shape.

We are gearing up for Christmas orders, which means getting in more inventory of our boxes and coolers. Even with our box truck, we had to make a few trips to Denver to pick up all of our supplies! Thankfully, we have some good help to get it all unloaded and packed away into storage.

Before harvest started, there was plenty of work to do around the ranch to get us ready to be running trucks all day. Part of that included working on the ditch bank road that had plenty of washouts, mud holes, and sprinkler tracks across it. Connor spent some time replacing a culvert that had rusted out and was no longer running water out of the field. While it didn't take him long, this project will hopefully keep the road from washing out like it had been doing all summer and allow us to run trucks on a MUCH smoother road.

One evening while checking the heifers and tagging

One evening while checking the heifers and tagging new babies, we caught this little guy helping himself to a little extra milk-from a mama who wasn’t even his! 😂🥛

Mama and her calf didn’t seem to mind one bit. There was apparently plenty of milk to go around, and this little opportunist wasn’t about to pass up a free meal!

This mama must have been the assigned babysitter for the evening, as we witnessed the other mama making her way to her baby shortly after.

Just another evening on the ranch, where apparently everyone looks out for everyone, and sometimes, everyone shares dinner too! ❤️🐮

Earlier this month, Vet Tech students from the Community College of Denver made their way out to our neck of the woods to complete their lab on cattle. We had a great morning sharing our knowledge with this group of kids and were happy to see many of them show an interest in the large animal side of the veterinary industry!

Even though they spend quite a bit of time learning and talking about how to do these tasks, it is always fun to see them be able to get hands on experience. These kids were able to practice running the chute, giving an IV, administering a subcutaneous shot, using a balling gun, etc.

It's not harvest season unless you spend a little bit of time in the shop fixing SOMETHING. This past spring we took this trailer to town to have the frame worked on so that we would have less issues with it rubbing on the airbags under the trailer. Since we had planned on getting the frame fixed, we may have forgot there was a small leak in one of them from harvest last fall, so better late than never to have to replace another airbag under the trailer, hopefully for the last time! 🤞

Before we got too busy being farmers, we spent a day at the beginning of September helping get yearlings hauled off grass down to the feedlot. Even though we had to be up before the sun to get going, these are the days that remind us why we love doing what we do. Getting to see some beautiful country makes up for the lack of sleep, and getting more cattle into the feedlot keeps us busy!

🎉 We have a BIG Birthday today—it’s Boss Man Eric’s day! 🎉

As you all know, Eric doesn’t celebrate his BirthDAY… he celebrates his Birth MONTH! 😂 And September just happens to be his most favorite month of the entire year-and possibly also his busiest time of the year!

I guess that proves he truly loves what he does. ❤️ There’s no better way to spend your favorite month than doing what you love, even if it means a little-or a LOT-of hard work!

We hope you’ve had a great month so far, Eric, and that the rest of your birthday month brings plenty of good days, good memories, and a great harvest season! 🌾🎂

Happy Birthday, Boss Man! 🥳

Eric rescued a poor little baby from this hole aft

Eric rescued a poor little baby from this hole after a surveyor, who was out doing his job, spotted him and alerted Eric.

Eric had to climb down into the hole and lift the little guy out to safety. Everything went smoothly... except for Eric receiving a few nasty kicks from the scared little fellow! 😂

He was definitely thirsty, but before long, Mom and baby were happily reunited. ❤️

And the best news? The hole is now history! No more accidental adventures for any of our babies! 🙌

Corn silage harvest is officially in full swing! 🌽While this is a fun time of year, it also means we will be plenty busy for a the next month or so, and may be a little hard to reach. Luckily we have a pretty good crew and are thankful for all the help we get from some good friends and family. Tis the season!

In the peak of busy season on the ranch, Kathy has been finding what little time she can to work on some projects of her own. While there isn't a lot of foot traffic through our packing shed, we try to keep it in good shape for the few people who do see it. Kathy repainted the floor, and put a coat of epoxy on it to protect it from all of the wear and tear is sees every week.
