It looks like allergy season is affecting more tha It looks like allergy season is affecting more than just all of us that work at the ranch! The pollen might leave quite a few of us with itchy eyes and runny noses, but it turns out allergies can affect our equine companions just as much. Pebbles has been acting a little agitated the last week or so, but when Kirsten went out to feed this morning, she noticed that Pebbles had broke out in hives. While we don't have difinitive answers right now, we are hoping a small change in her feed was the main cause of this! Pebbles got some Benadryl and is feeling much better, so we are making some changes and trying our best to make sure this doesn't happen to her again.

Jeff and Helen have welcomed two beautiful palomin Jeff and Helen have welcomed two beautiful palomino foals to their herd. While they are a little over a month apart in age, and made everyone anxiously wait for their arrival, they both have finally made their appearance! Both mares and their babies are happy and healthy and ready to take the world by storm. We are excited to see what is in store for these two! 🐴

The fields are ready for chopping! 🌱 We finally go The fields are ready for chopping! 🌱 We finally got our chopper back from its yearly maintenance at John Deere, so we are ready to hit the fields this coming week. Last fall we planted rye (on the left in the second photo) and beardless triticale (on the right in the second photo). These both make great cow feed when we are feeding them through the winter or forage for growing calves when they need time to grow. Wish us luck while we keep ourselves busy running trucks all week!

Last week Kathy took a quick trip to Laramie, WY i Last week Kathy took a quick trip to Laramie, WY in our reefer box truck to pick up beef from 307 Meat Company for some of our customers. Taking the reefer truck rather than a pickup ensures the beef stays frozen the whole way home with the warmer weather we have had. This week she packed up most of the beef and got it shipped out to many of our customers, and we can't wait for them to get their beef!

Eric and Connor were moving a sprinkler stop short Eric and Connor were moving a sprinkler stop shortly after the early May storm when they came across this sneaky guy trying to stay warm and stay hidden. Eric stepped right over him before realizing he was there, and Connor quickly added a few extra steps to his workout. Needless to say, the heart rates went up in a hurry!

Thankfully, it was just a big, chunky bull snake that had clearly wintered very well and was soaking up some warmth after the cold weather. Life on the farm always keeps you on your toes, sometimes more than expected. 🐍👀

This past weekend we had our Spring branding and a This past weekend we had our Spring branding and as always we are thankful for some amazing help! We couldn't have asked for a better day with good weather, nice horses, healthy looking calves, and to top it off a high quality steak and fellowship to wrap up the day. Branding always makes for a fun day and we are grateful for the friends and family that take the time to come out and help!

As dead trees around the farm get torn out, new on As dead trees around the farm get torn out, new ones are getting planted. While we don't love that the farm has turned into a wind tunnel with all the old trees getting cut down, we are excited to get new trees planted and get our wind break growing. Connor has been hard at work using the skid steer to dig holes and then hauling saplings around to plant them! 🌳

With the triticale, rye, and alfalfa growing like With the triticale, rye, and alfalfa growing like crazy, we are close to getting in the fields to harvest some crops. That means we have plenty of equipment to get through and service before we hit the fields. The swather needed a few worn out parts replaced, as well as a quick service. As the days are getting a bit warmer, Berrie doesn't mind the afternoon in the shop to get a little shade!

Corn planting has officially come to a close! 🌽Eri Corn planting has officially come to a close! 🌽Eric spent long days in the field this past week getting corn planted in the ground so that it can get growing. While this year has been a bit abnormal with the lack of moisture and snowfall we got, tough decisions were made to plant less corn than we normally do in anticipation for a lack of irrigation water. Now that all of the fields are planted and we can check that off our list, we get to move on to some much needed projects around the farm!

Today we’re wishing Tyler a very Happy Birthday! 🎉 Today we’re wishing Tyler a very Happy Birthday! 🎉

He’s been keeping busy landscaping his yard, working hard in the produce trucking world, and still finding time to lend a hand feeding at the ranch on weekends when needed. This year marks 26 -which officially means he’s responsible for his own health insurance… so we’re especially glad he’s more than happy to help out on the farm whenever he can! 😉

Hope your day is a great one, Tyler!

The ranch horses need some extra love every now an The ranch horses need some extra love every now and then! Routine care is important for the health of our horses and we keep up with it to help them perform at their best. Floating, or filing the sharp points of a horses teeth down, is important to making sure they aren't chewing on or cutting up their cheeks, as well as making sure they can grind their food properly.🦷 Since the process involves someone having their hands in the horses mouth, the horses have to be sedated, which doesn't last too long, but it does provide some entertainment!
