We spent the weekend getting cows out to corn stalks! Allowing the cattle to graze the leftovers our machines leave behind is a great way to help offset feed costs over the winter. It's also a good way to clean up the leftover crop residue for the next season's planting. Jeff and Berrie began converting the chopper back over to process corn after we finished up Alfalfa for the season. There are a lot of important parts that need to be changed depending on the crop we are putting through the machine. All in all it takes about a full day or two to get everything changed and ready for the header. The summer storms brought hail that delayed our third cutting, forcing us to chop corn before we could get our last cutting of hay.
